Scholarships

We believe assisting people to achieve their dreams through higher education is one of the most satisfying ways we can support local people, and in the long term our community.

Applications for study in 2025 are NOW OPEN.  Applications close at 9am on Monday,
December 16, 2024. For more information please refer to the guidelines below.

Lift Off Scholarships

The Lift Off Scholarship program was established in 2014 as a response to the increasing number of our young people not able to afford the transition from secondary education to post secondary education.  Over the past ten years the scholarships have increased the number of people from the Goulburn Valley region who are able to pursue their education aspirations

The Lift Off Education Scholarship program has evolved over the years to respond to need.  In 2025 alongside supporting young school leavers, GSF is opening applications to local people planning to return to study. This is a direct response to the financial challenges faced by those electing to take on study and the commitment required to invest in education.

A study has shown that people from non-metropolitan regions in Victoria defer university studies at twice the rate of their metropolitan counterparts, and currently only half of our young people finish secondary school and a quarter go on to tertiary education.

Motivated by these alarming results, we partnered with the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project to break down some of the financial, and other barriers our students faced.

The first scholarships of $5,000 each were awarded to five recipients from the Goulburn Valley in March 2015 and to date 120 young people from our region have been supported with funds in excess of $500,000.

A range of education scholarships for amounts of up to $10,000 are awarded to Goulburn Valley school leavers or those returning to study for approved higher education courses including Diplomas, pathway programs and Bachelor degrees.

With the growth in applications for the program increasing each year, the need for financial support is evident.  Support from interested partners and events provide the funds for scholarships and assists to develop partnerships to expand the program.

Funds are accepted and held specifically for the purpose of the scholarships. Donations to Lift Off are 100% tax deductible. We are always seeking support for our scholarship program and invite interested partners to contact EO, Amanda McCulloch, for more information.
