Scholarships transform futures in Shepparton

Investing in Local Talent Through Employment and Vocational Training Scholarships 

Supporting people to gain the skills they need for meaningful employment is one of the most valuable investments a community can make. At Greater Shepparton Foundation, our partnership with GMLLEN helps to remove financial barriers that can stand in the way of committed students completing their training and pursuing rewarding careers. 

With funding support from Central Shepparton Rotary Club and Soroptimists International Shepparton, together we are supporting local apprentices, and vocational students overcome the hidden costs of education, ensuring that financial hardship does not prevent them from reaching their goals. 

We recently awarded Mitchell Black a scholarship, and he is a wonderful example of the difference this support can make. 

Mitchell has been completing his apprenticeship at Shepparton Golf Club through The Apprenticeship Factory while studying towards a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management at Wodonga TAFE. Although committed to his apprenticeship and studies, the costs of travelling to Wodonga and paying for accommodation during four-day training blocks presented a significant financial challenge on an apprentice wage. 

The Employment and Vocational Training Scholarship will help ease those out-of-pocket expenses, allowing Mitchell to focus on developing the skills and knowledge that will benefit both his career and our region's workforce. 

Congratulations to Mitchell on receiving this well-deserved scholarship. His dedication and commitment are commendable, and we wish him every success as he completes his studies and continues building his career in sports turf management. 

Scholarships such as these demonstrate what can be achieved when community organisations work together with a shared purpose. By investing in local people today, we are strengthening the skilled workforce our region will rely on tomorrow.
